Highlight About 7 Day Machame Route
The Machame Route is one of the most scenic and popular Kilimanjaro climbing routes, passing through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and summit zone. With 7 days on the mountain, climbers have maximum acclimatization and a higher chance of success while enjoying stunning views of Mt. Meru, Shira Plateau, glaciers, and ice cliffs.

Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Moshi. Evening pre-climb briefing and equipment check with your guides.
Day 02: Moshi – Machame Gate – Machame Camp
Start from Machame Gate (1,800m) and trek through lush rainforest, crossing ridges and streams before reaching Machame Camp (3,000m). [6–8 hours walking, 11km]
Day 03: Machame Camp – Shira Plateau
Climb steeply to Picnic Rock with views of Kibo, then continue to Shira Plateau and camp near Shira Hut (3,840m). [4–6 hours walking, 5km]
Day 04: Shira – Lava Tower – Barranco Valley
Trek across moorland to Lava Tower (4,550m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Valley (3,900m). [5–7 hours walking, 10km]
Day 05: Barranco – Karanga Camp
Climb the Barranco Wall and continue along ridges with views of the Southern Icefields, before camping at Karanga Valley (4,000m). [3–4 hours walking, 5km]
Day 06: Karanga – Barafu Camp
Ascend from Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (4,600m), perched on a ridge with sweeping views. Rest and prepare for summit night. [3–4 hours walking, 4km]
Day 07: Barafu – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Begin summit attempt at midnight, climbing steep scree slopes to Stella Point (5,735m) and onward to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Barafu for rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100m). [11–15 hours walking, 13km]
Day 08: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,650m). After check-out, drive back to Moshi for overnight stay. [4–6 hours walking, 10km]
Day 09: Departure
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
